Oceans, sweeping cliffs, panoramic views and my best friend on a road-trip. What more could I ask for? Storm clouds loomed over the coastal town and rainbows adorned the road as Gay marriage was legalised in America. What a beautiful week.
After a long car trip (4+ hours) and us ditching the last 2 days of school, we arrived at Pinnacle point, a beautiful eco estate set between mountains, cliff faces and the open ocean. Unfortunately it was WAY to cold to swim. The morning after we arrived we all drove to the clubhouse (a round building with full panoramic views of the area) for coffee and then went to a mall to do some shopping, and of course to get some McDonalds, because it's not really holiday until you throw your diet out the window.
On the third day my parents shipped off to play golf while they gave us cash to spend at the arcade and have lunch. We ate junk food, pizza of course. #noregrets. We won lots of tickets at the arcade, and after expecting to be able to buy a big prize, all we walked away with was a pair of cheap earrings, and a dinosaur eraser. Talk about big winnings... not.
After that we went out to dinner at one of the buffets at the estate. The food was pretty average and could have been a lot warmer, but dessert was amazing! we had waffles, 2 scoops of ice-cream crushed nuts and whipped cream. Obviously I drank some green tea when I got back to the house to try and convince myself that I had eaten healthy! Oops.
We woke up late to go and walk the estate's long boardwalk down to a beach. The boardwalk was extremely steep so it took us a while to get down the mountain. We trekked up a path that lead us to cliff side caves where scientists were excavating and digging around. When we got to the boardwalk again we decided to run all the way uphill and kill our butts and thighs. It was so tiring but it felt good to work off some of the waffle weight from the previous evening!
The best day was by far the last. Another late morning and we drove to a near by town - George _ to go and rummage around a big antique shop. I bought a beautiful zippo lighter with ceramic embellishments and a pencil case from the 1980's and my best friend got a few film cameras. We drove off to find a place to have lunch and found The Gannet, a restaurant in Mossel Bay. I had a pretty little mushroom parcel with mustard sauce and pastry for starters and my rents had oysters. For mains my bestie and I both decided on yet another pizza.
On the drive back we popped some popcorn and watched movies on a laptop and talked about all that we had done in the last week. I received my report card back from school and we chatted about our results. We stopped at a gas station for breakfast: cheese griller sausage, eggs and bacon. A few hours later and we were back home, already dreaming of our next adventures.
Until next time
