Makeup is a big part of my life. I know it's not for everyone; but for me it's more than a bunch of product on my face - it defines how I feel for the rest of my day and it's my way of being able to express myself through colour (or lack thereof), texture and shape. Here are a few of my favourite makeup trends for 2016:
'No makeup' makeup
Going au natural is not something I'm comfortable with on most days, so this is a really good option for those who like natural looking makeup. The goal is to make your skin look dewy and your cheeks blush. Brushed up, natural bows and a soft pink stain or a clear gloss is essential for the lips, and very little mascara should be used. This look enhances you most beautiful features, while still hiding possible blemishes and shaping your brows. I love this because it means summer makeup doesn't have to be caked on, especially on particularly hot days.
We don;t all have glory, dewy skin; and since summer is all about that bronzed glow this trend is perfect. Use a super shimmery highlighter right on top of your cheek bone extending onto the bottom of your temple to give your face a popping bone structure and glory skin. You can also apply some on your cupid's bow and on the tip of your nose to highlight your best features. This is perfect with a natural makeup look as it makes you skin look like it's just naturally that goddess -like and golden.
Beautiful bushy brows
the less makeup in summer, the better because then you can avoid that perpetuating melting feeling on your face as the temperature goes up. All you need for this is a strong hold brow gel and an eyebrow brush, and you're good to go. Much easier to touch up than when you use pomades or pencils. Note to self: brows are sisters not twins... and that's totally okay, it makes your face striking and interesting if your brows are slightly different - not everything has to be 100% symmetrical.
Peach blossom pink is the perfect shade of blush for the summer, and looks great with minimal makeup or a more dressy look, and the shade works for all skin tones. It gives your face a more natural pop of colour than pink or red based blushers and accentuates your lovely cheekbones.
Finally freckles are back! I have always had freckles, and for years I found the need to hide them and conceal them to get a more even skin tone, but seeing this summer's freckle trend has changed my mind! Hell, makeup artists are even coming up with tools and kits to make fake freckles! If you're blessed with the beauty spots, show them off by wearing sheer cover foundation, or no foundation at all! It's really all about that natural beauty this season and I am all for it.
Hope you all enjoyed the post, and until next time
