The world has experienced a myriad of fashion over the past few weeks, starting with the one and only New York Fashion Week. The city exploded with new designs and catwalk couture is better than ever for the upcoming fashion season.
Ruffles were front and centre on the runway. From ethereal, fairy-like dresses to blouses adorned with structured flounces. Sweatshirt, especially the white variety, were also ever-popular, with designers like Vera Wang and Yeezy incorporating the casual trend into their collections.
Pinstripes were major on the runway as well and this traditional menswear trend is now a staple in any woman's wardrobe (read the full article about pinstripes here).
Silver outshone even the a-list celebrities in the front row on the runways with everything from jackets to jeans being coated in this neutral metallic.
Platforms were also very big on the catwalk (no pun intended), turning sweet, spring footwear into something a little more goth-chic. elements like sequins, embroidery and bows gave some shoes a more feminine appeal while studs and pleather suggested a more menswear inspired look.
Statement sleeves were one of the quirkier trends on the couture catwalk. Anything from off the shoulder, to bell sleeves to half chopped. This look works with basically any style, from classic to grunge and you don't need to be a world-class model to rock this look!
Wet look hair was a major beauty trend this NYFW and it has gotten a much-needed update since the greasy-looking trend we all know too well from the 90's and early noughties. This time, hair looks fresh, paired with dewy makeup and spider lashes.
Stay tuned for the London Fashion Week article that I'm posting tomorrow
