Throughout the last 6 months, rose gold has taken the world by storm. The trend in everything from clothing, accessories, and even homeware was probably derived from this year's Pantone colours of the year, specifically Rose Quartz. But why is the world so obsessed with this magical metallic hue?
Perhaps it's because Rose Gold simply goes with everything, I'm not just saying this - it really does look good with anything you wear. It brightens up super pale complexions like mine, and it gives darker skin toned wearers a sultry yet effortless glow. Maybe it's just because the fashion industry has focused on only traditional gold and silver metallics for decades and somehow Rose gold got underrated and forgotten about.
The textile industry has come a long way over the last few years, allowing us to make fabrics that are truly metallic and Rose Gold seems to be the one colour that truly does the science behind the textiles justice. Pictured above is a rose gold slip dress (designed by me and made by my mother) I wore to a formal event. The dimension and shine in the fabric caught people's eyes and I received many compliments simply because of the colour of the dress. This may be a little clichéd, but perhaps Rose Gold is really the new black?
Rose gold glows with sophistication and it transforms basic items and accessories into something fit for a queen. I think the fashion industry's obsession with the metallic stems from many of our childhood obsessions, where anything pink and glittery was super cool - this is just like the grown-up version of the little girls' pink princess phase (only let's hope that Rose Gold is not only a phase...).
Whatever your reason for loving rose gold is, I hope you make an effort to incorporate it into your wardrobe this season, you'll look super stylish and the colour tone will add some luxury to your current wardrobe!
Until next time
