Last year's Puma Fenty collection by Rihanna was an absolute success, and the coveted and hard to find fluffy slide shoes (which came in black, grey, baby pink and white) were certainly the most popular piece in the collection. This year, the new Puma Fenty collection is even better than last year (which I didn't even think was possible). It seems like Rihanna really knows what she's doing when it comes to combining haute couture and streetwear.
The shoes from this year's collection are absolutely gorgeous. The slides got a very chic update, from fluffy, branded tops to an oversized messy silk bow - a pair of these will instantly bring up the look of any outfit. And this year there are way more colors to chose from. Rihanna also added an amazing pair of sneakers to the collection. The pair is covered in silky fabric, and has the same silk bow as the slides (and comes in the same colors). These sneakers look seriously comfortable and would be perfect for long haul travels of walking around town all day to keep your feet cushioned.
Some super cool jacket designs also made their way into the collection. From bombers with millions of pockets, paneling and tiny little floral details. I really like the cut out details on the pink one pictured above. There also seems to be a lot of bows, knots and hanging pieces of fabric throughout the collection, and it looks modern. I think the designs are actually pretty wearable on an everyday basis, especially since you won't be wearing all the pieces together at once: think about a pair of killer black skinny jeans with the pink slides and one of the grey jackets.
The collection also seems to be pretty gender neutral, with many of the pieces being shown on male and female models. It's great to see the notion of shying away from traditional gender norms in the mainstream fashion industry and the promotion of inclusivity in such a high fashion and beautiful way really gives me hope that catwalk fashion is starting to lean in the right direction. I can't wait to see what Rihanna comes up with in the future regarding her Puma Collabs, she always seems to get it right and push boundaries in the best way.
I'd love to know what you think about the collection in the comment section below, so let me know!
Until next time
