It's been a while since I've posted one of these blogs - probably over a year now. With time everyone's beauty routine and ideal look changes, as mine has and I now have a totallydifferent makeup routine for everyday than I did a year ago. Most of the products I use are drugstore, although I do use one or two high end products. You will notice I do make use of a couple of MAC cosmetics products which I will be phasing out of my routine and replacing with other brands as I no longer support MAC due to their continual and cruel animal testing. I really encourage all of you to only use animal friendly beauty products.
I start by cleansing my face with Dermalogica's special cleansing gel. Then I apply a moisturizer. Instead of wetting my beauty blender with water, I spray it with 5-6 sprays of pure rose water and give it a good squeeze to soak the rose water. I use Rose water instead of normal H2O because it has amazing benefits for your skin and I find that it leaves my skin less oily and sticky through out the day.
Next, I use the L.A. Girl HD Pro-Conceal in green to color correct any areas of my skin that have a little redness in them. After that has dried, I use the NYX Stay Matte but not Flat Liquid foundation in the shape ivory SMF01. It looks fresh for most of the day, feels light but has a great full coverage and doesn't seem to make me breakout despite my super acne-prone skin which flares up at just about anything. Next I use the Max Studio Finish Concealer in the shade NC15 for my under eye circles and if I have any other blemishes thatI feel I want to cover up.
Next I use my Catrice Eyebrow Stylist in the shade 040 and I fill in and shape my brows with the pencil side, making sure that the pencil is always super sharp to get those clean-cut brows that stay on fleek all day long. When I'm done filling them in I use the spool to brush my natural hair in place again. I then use a touch of Essence clear Lash & Brow Gel Mascara to keep my brows set and in place, and if there arenas bald/ sparse patches left, I fill them in with a touch of matching eyeshadow while the gel is still wet to ensure that my brows look really even. When the gel has dried, I clean up the edges and underside of my brows with concealer.
The next step is optional, and I very often leave it out, but if I have the time I'll use the Essence Superfine Eyeliner Pen to add a thin, sharp cat-eye to my glam. If I do use the liner, I'll also make sure to tight-line my top eyelids with a back kohl eyeliner to ensure you don't see that awkward little gap of skin between the liner and my lashes that we all have. I then use the Essence Get Big! Lashes Volume Curl Mascara. The formula is so long lasting, and the fact that it isn't water proof ensure that it's less harsh on my lashes and skin. The wand really does plump up your lashes a lot and makes it look like you're wearing falsies!
I usually like to add a little highlight to my look, to make the Matt foundation look a little more glowy and dewy. I use the Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Color in the shade Lunch Money, which is a surprisingly creamy formula. I dust some on my cheekbones, Cupid's bow, brow bone, inner eye corner and along the tip and on the centre of the bridge of my nose. Lastly I Put on a nice sweep of Burt's Bee's Pomegranate Moisturizing Lip Balm to keep my lips hydrated, and to add the slightest touch of natural color. I finish my look of with a light spritz of Rose Water to set my makeup in place and keep it looking dewy and full of glow for the day.
Until next time
