Shoes although always one of the greatest wardrobe weapons, has been standard in that their styles have been mostly predictable in color and shape. Shoes in the past were not usually mean to grab more attention than your outfit, even though, ironically, shoes are the first thing people notice about what you're wearing. Nowadays, shoes are attention-seeking, loud and artier than ever, and it's truly a marvelous era in our fashion industry.
designers have made shoe hybrids: merging 2 distinctive shapes together to create something more post-modes, futuristic and fashion-forward. Pointed ballet flats, moccasin inspired cowboy ankle-boots and platform sneakers are but a few. New color combos and interesting accessories have also made their way onto the latest shoes, and it seems that shoe designers are creating wearable craft projects instead of the boring, conformist shoes were used to.
Boots have also gotten way longer in the past few years. Yes we had seen some select thigh-highs back in the earlier 2010's but those were all very vanilla. These days thigh-highs are rhinestone crusted; bright purple, metallic silver or consist mainly of laces and fastenings. The Kar-Jenner family has seemed to take to this boot type very fondly, wearing thigh-highs at almost every event.
Then came sock boots.whether they existed before Kanye came into the fashion game or not isn't too clear; but either way Yeezy started something huge. A combination of a sock and a boot? It may sound weird, but it's actually genius. Sock boots became such a craze that people even started making their own sock boots... out of actual socks.
Whatever your tastes are, this era's shoes sure are interesting to have a look at; even if you don't plan on wearing them!
Until next time
