No this is not an interior decor trend and in fact it has absolutely nothing to do with actual lampshades... not that I think you'd be that disappointed. Lamp shading is a growing trend that is often seen on celebrities, particularly a-listers like the KarJenner clan streetwear goddesses like Zendaya and Rihanna.
Lamp-shading involves wearing a really large hoodie or T-shirt as a dress, or wearing a t-shirt cut dress over a pair of boots, usually thigh-highs and the boots are almost always heeled. I'ts a super easy and versatile trend to pull off and it will make you look super put together even though you're essentially only wearing 2 items.
This also isn't the kind of trend you really need to go shopping for. Sure, if you don't have boots the you might need to invest a pair but in terms of finding shirts and hoodies: I just raid my dad's closet and if you have a boyfriend then I'm sure you're stealing his shirts on the reg in any case, so take advantage of your resources and the current trends!
You can wear this trend in summer too, if you really love it! Just swap out the hot winter boots for some cute sneakers and you're good to go! If you want to dress up the trend or just feel a little warmer in the very cold winter months, you can add a pair of stockings; whether it's fishnets (which are really on trend right now) or just the plain old sheer black pantyhose. This trend looks great with a stylish yet simple bomber jacket and a scarf too! I've even seen people wear long coats with the more casual trend and the contrast between an old T-shirt and a more dressy coat works surprisingly well!
You can add jewelry, but try keep it simple: remember this is a streetwear trend so pairing a lot of classic jewelry with it might change the overall style of the outfit: but if that's what you're going for, then full steam ahead!
So here's to you trying out the new hot streetwear trend that celebrities can't get enough of!
Until next time
