I have a slight mental crash every time I go to buy new clothes: I love shopping but I'm frugal as hell. I don't like dishing out money as I earn my own money, so I feel I've worked hard to obtain it. Luckily for me, there are 2 massive outlet store malls not too far from home. Outlet stores stock items which didn't sell during their lifespan during the store or were overstocked and had to be sent somewhere else. Prices usually start at around 50% off the original cost but can drop even lower, so of course centres like these are my heaven. I needed a couple of things so here's my haul:
I remember seeing this skirt in the normal store when it had just launched and I immediately fell in love with it. It was originally ±R900 ($79), which was a lot of money for a skirt. With a mother who studied fashion design and my minimal sewing experience I know that skirts are the easiest thing to make so I never spend a lot of money on them because I know the cost doesn't go towards the process of making the skirt; but rather just goes straight to profit (tip for next time you shop btw). I got the skirt for almost 80% off the original price, so totally worth it now and it's very versatile for hot summer days so I'll be wearing this one a lot.
This is the matching shirt to the skirt shown above which makes up a co-ord set. When worn with the skirt, the outfit looks like a beautiful nautical dress. The shirt is longer length and is split down the sides. It also looks great with simple skinny jeans or sticking out under a shorter denim skirt. It's quite sheer but the pockets cover my bra, so luckily I don't have to go to the effort of wearing one of those horrid sticky bras in the mid-summer heat!
I've been wanting some neutral flat shoes for a while, and I love these dainty studded loafers from Rubi shoes. The suede and faux leather paneling makes this a little more formal and is perfect for a lunch out with friends or a family dinner. The studs add a unique element while not taking away or distracting too much attention.
This top is really great and versatile. The 'sleeves' can be worn higher or lower on the shoulders. The material is double lined, comfortable and really good quality and I love the knit look. The fact that the inner lining is a cooler material is good for hot days because at least I won't overheat from the outer knit layer.
These Bermuda shorts are high waisted, flowy and beautifully tailored. I love the fact that I can wear this with a sparkly shirt and heels for a summer night out or I can dress it down with a sporty crop and sneakers for a casual day of shopping. I'm not someone who enjoys wearing short denim shorts or mini skirts; I feel uncomfortable in them so I really love Bermuda shorts like these that are tailored, flowy and neutral.
I've been needing a pair of gym shorts for a while and I stopped over at the Nike outlet and got these on sale for only R99 ($7)! They go perfectly with my black and white Nike sports bra and they're so comfy!
I decided to pick up a nice racerback gym top as well. It fits really well and I love the lightweight fabric.
I decided to splurge a little on some Nike sneakers since I've been really loving the new athleisure trend. I looked for a really long time in the store and all the shoes in the women's section were very bright (pink, green and purple), which is fine, it's just not my style. I decided to go to the men's section and found these great navy and white Air max essentials and, to be honest, they are way more comfortable than the women's shoes!
Until the next post
