I am someone who loves to decorate, revamp and remodel. I love being creative and expressing myself in art, interior design and fashion is something I do on a daily basis. Here is an insight to my personal interior decor style:
Much like my clothing style, I like to stick to neutrals and focus on texture and form rather than colour to create interest. If I add colour into my room, it's usually in the form of green plants like succulents and cacti.
Because a lot of my free time is spent either sketching, doing photography or working on school projects I need to have a lot of light in my room to be able to see what I am doing. I always chose light colours for bases: light walls and furniture. This allows light to reflect off of all my surfaces to give me the maximum potential to see everything clearly.
When she built the house, my mom chose to cover all the ceilings in bamboo, which is right up my alley and I've never seen it in another house before. It's beautiful and unique and gives the rooms so much dimension. It ties in perfectly with my love of nature and neutral colour tone choices.
I love changing my furniture around so my mom made me a desk a few years ago which I love. It's just a big, wide plank with a dent cut out where I sit, to give the piece an interesting twist. The plank is simply suspended on 2 easels, so I can replace and remake or repaint the desk as I chose, which I love. The desk is again white - and is very spacious.
I can't remember the last time I bought pillows. I get bored of the same thing quickly so I often head down to the fabric store and buy some cheap neutral material with interesting prints and just make more pillow covers. I don't even need a pattern - I just use a measuring tape, add on 2cm extra in each side and stitch it together inside out.(I'll post a tutorial soon as I'll be making new pillows in the next few weeks).
I love an exposed brick wall or a rough concrete floor. Although I don't have this in my room currently I am moving upstairs next year into what will be built into a flatlet. There the floor is all exposed concrete and I am super excited for that. I am planning to decorate the floor with a (fake) cowhide or a straw textured rug.
I hope you got some insight as to how I like to decorate my little sanctuary, and next year when I design my flat and move upstairs I will do a progressive blog series.
Hope you all enjoyed the post
Until next time
