Over the last year or so, fashion has become a lot more relaxed. With the rise of the athleisure trend sweatpants became something less informal and in more recent days pajamas have become a regular piece to wear outside of the comfort of your home. Celebs and stylists alike have adopted this super easy trend, and it's the trans-seasonal style that may just become a new classic.
Long, silky pants are slightly more tailored than your regular 'off the rack' sleepwear staples because we all know that a good pair of pants is all about the way it fits. Pantsuits are often the choice outfit when it comes to this trend and mimics the fancy pajamas your mum had and never wore. Most of the time, the distinctly sleepwear inspired pieces are distinguished by their material - usually silk or a high-quality satin is the fabric of choice, although pure cotton is also an option.
There are two ways to wear the trend - if you're more daring you can go full pantsuit/ slip dress with relaxed slides for shoes and a small handbag. If you're still a little apprehensive about the trend, try wearing the pajama pieces with a structured coat, cute heels, accessories and neat, pushed back hair. This trend is so versatile because you can accent the style by making the sleepwear front and centre, or you can wear the pajama pieces as separates for a more sporty look.
Recently I have seen a lot of my favourite fashion bloggers wearing neutral or muted slip dresses over a white shirt, and I love this look for a casual summer day. Layering in summer is often difficult because of the heat, but the lightweight slip makes it so easy, and it looks very put together if you add a simple choker and a cute little bag to the outfit. It's also very easy to take this look from day to night by swapping out sandals for heels.
So if you're looking to put a little more effort into your 'just rolled out of bed' look, try the trend, I can assure you it will look great!
Until next time
