For a really long time, I never had a specific style and I would just dress like everyone else. I was confused when it came to my wardrobe and the one day I was dressing in studs and denim then the next day I would wear a pink dress and pumps. And then about a year ago I decided no more. I went on to We Heart It (my favourite website for inspiration) and found a style that I love and is so easy to upkeep.
I saw these beautiful fashion bloggers dressing in neutral tones, and before I used to think you needed colour and print to make an outfit but then I realised that using neutral clothing with unusual textures was more versatile. I slowly began cutting colour out of my wardrobe and last week I got rid of the last of it (except workout clothes, `i like those colourful!). What I am left with now is less clutter, but also a totally neutral closet with very minimal colour. And by colour I mean Camel browns and natural green touches. I have a few camel and grey coats, among the classic white and black ones and I have a bandage skirt with some neutral green palms printed on them and a skirt with navy blue palms. The only other colour thing I have is a pair of navy tailored pants.
I know it may sound super boring, but it really isn't! Everything in my wardrobe goes with every thing, so it's a big help wen I need to pick an outfit in a rush. Neutral and camel browns really compliment each other and I am so glad `i've finally found a style I can stick with.
If you are still stuck on what your style is I would really suggest going to We Heart It and they have all sorts of clothing styles, not just neutrals. I think another reason neutrals are so nice as your clothing style is because it isn't that expensive. Yes a few key pieces like a nice coat and tailored pants are quite important but shirts usually aren't and neither are plain skirts etc. You can even make skirts really easily with fabric from the material shop, don't be scared to try your luck in front of the sewing machine- it's really fun and it's easy once you get the hang of it.
I will be posting my buys on here in a few weeks when I go shopping so watch this space :). Oh and say tuned because I'll be posting about makeup style later and interior style in the next few blog posts.
Until next time
